Wishing everyone a blessed Ramadan.
"We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day." My musical journey began many many years ago, and has since, taken many shapes. Here's a shot taken in 2012, in the legendary Puk Studios here in Denmark. An incredibly inspiring session, knowing that artists such as Elton John, George Michael, Depeche Mode, Gary Moore, Kent, Volbeat, and so many more - had all recorded there. - MW
In just 7 days, 1 million Ukrainians have fled their now war torn country. From one day to the next, life went from normal, directly to the unthinkable. It's up to us as nations, as families, as individuals, to welcome those so horrendously affected by this nonsense. Reach out to your local politicians, show up to peace protests, donate, and do everything in your power to welcome and help those fleeing. No matter where people are fleeing, it's not ever the way things should be. We are one. - MW

Writing and playing music is a lot of fun. It’s a deeply rooted passion for me. I have played music most of my life, and I love to play different instruments - and in this video I actually play them all - as the band was on holiday when recording the video 🙂. I wrote this song "Inside Yourself" in 2013 (published in 2015) during a very difficult period of my life, after getting divorced from a 23 year relationship and marriage, with the mother of my children. At that time we both had to find the strengths deep within ourselves, in order to "survive" and move on in our respective lives. Fortunately today, we are both doing very good and we have a very strong and respectful friendship. So... the song "Inside Yourself" might be melancholic and dark, but if you haven´t been through the darkness, you don´t know what light is about, and vice versa. / MW www.michael-winther.com
The song - "Unable" - was one of the first songs in my solo career, included on the EP "To the Stars" from 2010, 11 years ago.
Within relationhips there are big differences between being "unable" versus "enable". When you are "unable" you are just in a sort of "giving up" mode, which is what this song is about.
When you are "enable" you are actually lifting yourself and your partner up to a higher level of being untouchable.
Experience can make you transform from one to the other, and today and in life in general, I must say, I prefer and mostly operate as an "enabler" in all kind of relations.
The video surely shows the inexperience with almost no grey hairs 🙂. In the video the Danish actress Tine Pohl plays the "better half" - we had great fun filming the story at that time.
Remember to "enable" out there - and do not unable neither yourself, nor others !

In 2013 the debut album "Orange in the Blue" album was released. Here is the title song from the album. The song was actually inspired and written while attending the Roskilde Festival with some former band members, the year before - so the "orange" (the orange scene) and the "blue" (the sky) elements are from that location in my hometown, Roskilde - Denmark. But the song is also about different colours and the feeling of not fitting into a certain environment. To a certain extend the song is about discrimination or being excluded. I guess that we have all had that feeling in some moments during life. Making the video - despite the melancholic atmosphere in the song and video - with all these models (fantastic people by the way) was a lot of fun ! In general, I play many instruments, but writing the whole album "Orange in the Blue" was actually the starting point for me of being more of a song writer than a musician. The MW project started up in 2010. Before that I played guitar with different rock / pop bands. The MW project is about telling stories wrapped into music and film, mostly very personal stories. Here is one of the very first songs I did as “Michael Winther” : "2-0-1-4". The song is about a recurring nightmare that I had most of my life, dying in a car accident in the year 2014. I decided to write a song about it and film the nightmare as I remembered it from my thoughts. The nightmare seemed so real that I did not think I would survive the year 2014 - but luckily I´m still alive and still making music. Feel free to subscribe for my video channel and enjoy the song/video below, from where it all began in 2010. / MW
Michael Winther recently returned from a video shoot on The Faroe Islands! The video will be for an upcoming track that is scheduled to be released 2022. The amazing nature and stunning scenery provided the perfect setting for the soon to be released song. Stay tuned for some special treats for your ears and eyes!
Proud to announce that the "City of Silence" single is now in rotation on several FM radio stations in UK and Australia. What an experience that my music is actually played around the world.
I was visiting Chernobyl in Ukraine last year - and the song just came to me and wrote itself in a few minutes.
Shortly after the trip, I recorded the song in Copenhagen, and then travelled back to Chernobyl once again to film the music video.
I´m grateful to the band: Kristian Martinsen, Louise Dubiel and Morten Urhøj.

The ´Summertime´ track (from the recent Aftermath album) was actually written in wintertime... but finally we are here... it´s Summertime ! / Enjoy it!! MW
Violence and hostility lead to nowhere. Only dialogue, understanding and inclusiveness lead to peace. This song and video are not political - but unfortunately still very current. Let's all work together to end the violence, and make room for everyone, please! 🇵🇸🇮🇱
City of Silence. Exactly 35 years ago today - in the former Soviet Union (now Ukraine) - the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant tragically exploded. It was an enormous disaster, claiming thousands of victims - and with material environmental consequences that will continue to affect a vast area, for hundreds of years to come. The area is still very radioactive and restricted with very limited access. However we actually went there recently - directly in to the centre of the explosion for a very short time slot - and performed this brand new song ´City of Silence´. Something we will never forget. May such a disaster never ever happen again.
All revenue from the recently released album - AFTERMATH - goes to Save the Children in Lebanon.
Why ?
Because Lebanon is the centre of hosting refugees from all the Middle East countries. More than 2 million refugees are currently stranded in camps in Lebanon - and many of them are children.
Michael Winther has visited several of these camps - the emotional and moving experiences behind these visits, were what inspired him to write "Save the Children" in support of the cause.
Please support the Aftermath album - your support will be distributed directly to Save the Children in Lebanon.
